چکیده
AIM: The objective of the study was to assess influence exposure duration and smoking on ventilatory impairment among construction workers. METHODS: A cross-sectional performed, including 83 workers aged 18–64 years, compared equivalent number office controls matched by age, workplace duration, status. Data chronic respiratory symptoms, work history, status were collected standardized questionnaire, while lung functional testing examined subjects performed spirometry. RESULTS: Mean values spirometric parameters lower in with statistical significance registered for maximal expiratory flow (MEF25), MEF50, MEF75. Lung functions have been found decrease relation but reached only small airways changes. There a significant difference detected between exposed any type impairment, as well obstructive combined pattern airways. Obstructive significantly associated life-time workers, smoking. effect daily smoking, cigarettes smoked shown their development. risk about 4 fold higher those more than 20 years (odds ratio [OR] = 3.68 [1.01–14.59] confidence interval [CI] 95%), 2.5 smokers (OR 2.57 [0.92-7.25] CI 95%). Exposure age had independent changes force volume 1st s/force vital capacity %. CONCLUSION: Our data suggest importance joint job development function airflow limitation, being dominant, especially

Chronic Respiratory Symptoms and Lung Function in Agricultural Workers - Influence of Exposure Duration and Smoking
INTRODUCTION Job exposure in agricultural workers often leads to respiratory impairment. AIM To assess the influence of exposure duration and smoking on chronic respiratory symptoms and ventilatory capacity in agricultural workers. METHODS A cross-sectional study covered 75 agricultural workers, compared with an equal number of office workers matched by age, exposure duration and smoking st...
متن کاملCumulative exposure to dust and gases as determinants of lung function decline in tunnel construction workers.
AIMS To study the relation between lung function decrease and cumulative exposure to dust and gases in tunnel construction workers. METHODS A total of 651 male construction workers (drill and blast workers, tunnel concrete workers, shotcreting operators, and tunnel boring machine workers) were followed up by spirometric measurements in 1989-2002 for an average of six years. Outdoor concrete w...
متن کاملImpact of exposure to insulation wool on lung function and cough in Swedish construction workers.
OBJECTIVES To investigate whether application of insulation wool adversely affects lung volumes and increases the occurrence of symptoms of airway irritation. METHODS Data from nationwide health check ups in 1981-93 of male construction workers born in 1955 or later were used to investigate cross sectional (n = 96,004) and longitudinal (n = 26,298) associations between lung volumes, vital cap...

متن کاملChronic Respiratory Symptoms and Ventilatory Function in Workers Exposed to Tea Dust: Effect of Duration of Exposure and Smoking
Many studies reviewed show that both workplace exposure to organic dust and smoking may cause chronic respiratory symptoms and airflow limitation in susceptible subjects. We performed a case-control study including 63 tea workers (36 male and 27 female, aged 36-55, duration of employment 3–30 years) and an equal number of office workers, matched by sex and age. Chronic respiratory symptoms (chr...
